DTC P1564: Powertrain Control Module Detects Rapid Acceleration: Description

Cruise Control Module (CCM) uses a cruise engaged circuit to request cruise control. If improper conditions exists, Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will disable cruise control through cruise inhibit control circuit. During cruise control, if a sudden rate of increase in vehicle speed occurs, PCM will inhibit cruise control system and store DTC P1564. PCM detects an extremely rapid rate of vehicle acceleration. PCM will not illuminate Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL). PCM will store conditions present when DTC set as failure record data only. A history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles have occurred without a malfunction. A scan tool can be used to clear DTC.
