Test B: Power Windows Express Up Function Inoperative

NOTE: Vehicle is equipped with express up, torque sensitive front door windows. When battery or power has been removed from either front door module, programming procedure will need to be performed, once power has been restored. See WINDOW MOTOR - EXPRESS MODE  under PROGRAMMING.
  1. If door systems diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If door systems diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform door systems diagnostic system check. See DOOR SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Verify express up function, by using Driver Door Switch Assembly (DDSA). Operate front windows for both doors. If windows do not operate normally, go to next step. If windows operate normally, problem may be intermittent. See PRELIMINARY INSPECTION  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  3. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, near steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe suspect driver window switch parameter in DDSA inputs list. Using DDSA, operate each switch through express up positions. Window switch parameter should change from IDLE to EXPRESS UP, as commanded. If parameter is as specified, go to next step. If parameter is not as specified, go to step  23 .
  4. If suspect express up is passenger window, go to next step. If suspect window is any other window, go to step  6 .
  5. Using scan tool, observe window switch parameter in. DDM inputs list. Operate passenger front window switch to EXPRESS UP position. Window switch parameter should change from IDLE to EXPRESS UP as commanded. If parameter is as specified, go to next step. If parameter is not display as specified, go to step  23 .
  6. Disconnect window motor harness connector. Using a DVOM, measure voltage of high speed communications circuit between ground and window motor harness connector terminal "D" (Light Green wire). Voltage should be 7.0-9.25 volts. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step. If voltage is as specified, go to step  11 .
  7. Test high speed communications circuit (Light Green wire) for a short to ground, an open, or a high resistance between suspect window motor harness connector terminal "D" and suspect door module harness connector C1 terminal No. 18. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If problem does not exist, go to next step. If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  17 .
  8. Test high speed communications circuit (Light Green wire) for a short to voltage between suspect window motor harness connector terminal "D" and suspect door module harness connector C1 terminal No. 18. If problem does not exist, go to next step. If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  17 .
  9. Inspect for poor connections in suspect door module harness connector. If problem does not exist, go to step  13 . If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  17 .
  10. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in DDSA harness connector. If problem does not exist, go to step  14 . If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  17 .
  11. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in window motor harness connector. If problem does not exist, go step  15 . If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  17 .
  12. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in suspect window switch harness connector. If problem does not exist, go to step  16 . If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  17 .
  13. NOTE: Before replacing suspect door module, test battery voltage circuit of suspect window sensor for a short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  14. Replace suspect door module. See DOOR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform window motor programming. See WINDOW MOTOR - EXPRESS MODE  under PROGRAMMING. After repair, go to step  17 .
  15. Replace DDSA. See WINDOW SWITCH ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step  17 .
  16. Replace suspect window motor. See WINDOW MOTOR REGULATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step  17 .
  17. Replace suspect window switch. See WINDOW SWITCH ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
  18. Perform window motor programming. See WINDOW MOTOR - EXPRESS MODE  under PROGRAMMING. Operate system to verify repair. If system operates normally, testing is complete. If system does not operate normally, go to step  2
