Supplemental Inflatable Restraint System Sensing & Diagnostic Module: Installation

CAUTION: Use correct fastener in correct location. Replacement fasteners must be correct part number for application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in service procedures. DO NOT use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage fastener. Use correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to part and systems.
  1. Install SDM to floor pan. Install SDM mounting fasteners. Tighten fasteners to 89 in. lbs (10 N.m).
  2. Install SDM wiring harness connector to SDM. Install CPA to SDM wiring harness connector. Install carpet and passenger front carpet retainer. Enable air bag system. See ENABLING AIR BAG SYSTEM  under PROGRAMMING.
  3. Install bolts which secure front bucket seat adjuster to floor pan. Tighten bolts to 31 ft. lbs (42 N.m). Install seat belt nut to front seat stud. Tighten nut to 31 ft. lbs (42 N.m). Inspect seat for proper operation and adjustment. Position seat to original position.
  4. Position front bucket seat into place. Tip seat back and connect following connectors, if equipped. Power seat electrical connector electrical seat heater connector driver side air bag electrical connector Engage seat hook attachments to floor pan.
  5. Align head restraint to head restraint retainers in front seat back. Install head restraint to front seat, pressing down until fully seated. Raise head restraint to full up position to ensure head restraint stops at detent. Position head restraint to its original position.
  6. For power seat, install covers to rear of seat adjuster track. For manual seat, position covers to rear of seat adjuster track. Insert a screw to secure each track cover. Install covers to front of seat adjuster track.
