On-Vehicle Testing: Notes

CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See GENERAL MOTORS (TRUCKS & VANS) in COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
NOTE: Before making electrical checks, perform PRELIMINARY INSPECTION  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. Ensure starting system is okay. See STARTERS - ASTRO, CHEVY EXPRESS, SAFARI & SAVANA article in ENGINES.
NOTE: Connector Test Adapter Kit (J-35616-A) must be used whenever a test procedure requires checking or probing terminal. Manufacturer recommends using CS Electronic Generator Tester (J-41450-B) to test charging system. Follow instructions provided with tester.
