Test Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Aztek and 2004 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The number below refers to the step number on the diagnostic table.

  1. 16:  B+ voltage should be present on the serial data terminal when tested with a DMM, but should not illuminate the test lamp. An illuminated test lamp indicates a short to voltage in the serial data circuit.
Keyless Entry System Inoperative

Step Action Value Yes No
1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check? - Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Remote Keyless Entry
2 Press each button of the transmitter one at a time.
Does the system operate normally?
- Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems Go to Step 3
3 Lock and unlock the door locks using the controls inside the vehicle.
Do the locks operate properly?
