Removal Procedure

CAUTION: Refer to SIR CAUTION in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to ZONE 3 in SIR.
  2. Remove the shift lever. Refer to SHIFT LEVER REPLACEMENT (WITH TOW/HAUL SWITCH)  or SHIFT LEVER REPLACEMENT (WITHOUT TOW/HAUL SWITCH)  .
  3. Remove the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to STEERING COLUMN TRIM COVERS REPLACEMENT  .
  4. Disconnect the park lock cable assembly (1).
  5. The steering column lock cylinder set should be in the OFF-LOCK position.
  6. Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the ignition lock cylinder case and push against the locking tab to remove.

  7. Disconnect the automatic transmission shift lock control connector from the park position switch assembly.
  8. Slide the park position switch assembly off of the linear shift assembly.

    NOTE: Do not use excessive force when removing the automatic transmission shift lock control from the steering column. Using excessive force may cause damage to the automatic transmission shift lock control and/or the steering column.
  9. Remove the automatic transmission shift lock control from the steering column.
  10. Use a small screwdriver to pry the automatic transmission shift lock control from the steering column jacket assembly.

  11. Remove the 3 TORX® screws from the linear shift assembly.
  12. Remove the linear shift assembly from the steering column support assembly.
