Removal Procedure
CAUTION:
Refer to SIR CAUTION
in Cautions and Notices.
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to ZONE 3 in SIR.
- Remove the shift lever. Refer to SHIFT LEVER REPLACEMENT (WITH TOW/HAUL SWITCH) or SHIFT LEVER REPLACEMENT (WITHOUT TOW/HAUL SWITCH) .
- Remove the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to STEERING COLUMN TRIM COVERS REPLACEMENT .
- Disconnect the park lock cable assembly (1).
- The steering column lock cylinder set should be in the OFF-LOCK position.
- Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the ignition lock cylinder case and push against the locking tab to remove.
- Disconnect the automatic transmission shift lock control connector from the park position switch assembly.
- Slide the park position switch assembly off of the linear shift assembly.Fig 2: Disconnecting Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control Connector From Park Position Switch Assembly

NOTE: Do not use excessive force when removing the automatic transmission shift lock control from the steering column. Using excessive force may cause damage to the automatic transmission shift lock control and/or the steering column. - Remove the automatic transmission shift lock control from the steering column.
- Use a small screwdriver to pry the automatic transmission shift lock control from the steering column jacket assembly.
- Remove the 3 TORX® screws from the linear shift assembly.
- Remove the linear shift assembly from the steering column support assembly.
