Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. 2:  This step determines if the indicator is operating properly.
  2. 3:  This step determines if the DDSA recognizes the lockout switch input.
Power Windows Inoperative - Lockout Function

Step Action Yes No
Schematic Reference: Door Control Module Schematics  and Power Window Schematics (w/o WC2/WC8)  or Power Window Schematics (w/ WC2/WC8) 
Connector End View Reference: Power Door Systems Connector End Views 
DEFINITION: This test assumes that all DTCs have been diagnosed.
1 Did you Perform the Door Systems Diagnostic System Check? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Door Systems

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the lockout LED indicator on the rear window lockout switch button.
  3. Momentarily press the lockout switch button.
  4. Momentarily press the lockout switch button again.
Does the LED indicator illuminate when the lockout switch button is first pressed, then go out when it is pressed again?		 Go to Step 3  Go to Step 6

IMPORTANT: Make sure that the passenger window lockout option is selected as ON in the vehicle owner customization menu. If the window lockout selection is OFF, set it to ON and verify that the fault is still present.
  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the Window Lockout Switch parameter in the Driver Door Switch Inputs list.
  3. Momentarily press the lockout switch button.
  4. Momentarily press the lockout switch button again.
Does the scan tool display Pressed when you press the switch and Idle when you are not pressing it?		 Go to Step 4  Go to Step 6

  1. Momentarily press the lockout switch button until the lockout switch LED indicator is illuminated.
  2. Attempt to operate each rear window from each rear window switch mounted on the rear doors.
Did both rear windows still operate from their associated window switch?		 Go to Step 6  Go to Step 5 
5 Did one of the rear windows still operate in step 4? Go to Step 7  Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems
6 Inspect for poor connections at the driver door switch assembly harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 10  Go to Step 8 
7 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the door module associated with the window that continued to operate. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 10  Go to Step 9 
8 Replace the driver door switch assembly (DDSA). Refer to Front Door Switch Replacement .
Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 10  -
9 Replace the door module associated with the window that continued to operate. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .
Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 10  -
10 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?		 System OK Go to Step 2
