Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Cadillac STS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the console active antenna.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 20 ohms of resistance between the low reference circuit terminal 5 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the RCDLR.
  3. Ignition ON, test for B+ between the supply voltage circuit terminal 2 and ground while commanding the scan tool Active Antenna output control ON.
    • If not the specified value, test the supply voltage circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the RCDLR.
  4. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the RCDLR.
  5. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp does not illuminate between the following circuits and ground:
    • Signal circuit terminal B
    • Signal circuit terminal C
    • If the test lamp illuminates, test the appropriate signal circuit for a short to voltage.
  6. Ignition OFF, test for infinite resistance between the following circuits and ground:
    • Signal circuit terminal B
    • Signal circuit terminal C
    • If less than the specified value, test the appropriate signal circuit for a short to ground.
  7. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the following signal circuits:
    • Terminal B at the RCDLR and terminal 3 at the console active antenna
    • Terminal C at the RCDLR and terminal 4 at the console active antenna
    • If greater than the specified range, test the appropriate signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  8. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the console active antenna.
