Method 2 - Service Programming System Fob Programming (New RCDLR or No Known Key Fob Available)

This procedure is a 10-minute relearn procedure using the Techline Terminal with SPS software. Once the 10-minute timer has expired, the fobs can be programmed similar to Method 1 using slot programming. A scan tool, Techline Terminal, and a replacement key fob are required to perform this procedure.

This procedure may be done in the OFF power mode.

  1. Connect a scan tool to the vehicle and access the following:
    • Body and Accessories
    • Keyless Entry
    • Module Setup
    • Remote Control Door Lock Receiver
    • Program Key Fobs- Export Only
  2. Select Request Info and follow the scan tool on-screen instructions.
  3. Disconnect the scan tool from the vehicle and connect the scan tool to a Techline Terminal with the current Service Programming System (SPS) software.
  4. On the Techline Terminal, select Service Programming System and follow the Techline Terminal on-screen instructions. Select "VTD Vehicle Theft Deterrent Learn" under Component Replacement. Ensure that "Prepare RCDLR for key fob programming" is chosen.
  5. Disconnect the scan tool from the Techline Terminal and reconnect the scan tool to the vehicle.
  6. With a scan tool, select Program ECU under Service Programming System.
  7. At this point the scan tool must remain connected for the duration of the 10 minute relearn procedure.
  8. When complete, select CONTINUE on the Tech 2, then exit out to the Vehicle Control Systems menu.
  9. Use the scan tool to access the following:
    • Vehicle Control Systems
    • Computer/Integrating Systems
    • Module Setup
    • Remote Control Door Lock Receiver
    • Program Key Fobs
  10. Select INVALIDATE ALL FOBS and press the PROGRAM button.
  11. The DIC will display a message: READY FOR FOB 1
  12. Place the replacement key fob in the glove box pocket with the buttons facing right. A beep will occur indicating programming completion. The DIC will display a message: READY FOR FOB 2
  13. If programming additional key fobs, repeat step 12, or press the OFF/ACC portion of the ignition switch to exit programming.
  14. IMPORTANT: Failure to press the UNLOCK button of each key fob will result in that fob being inoperative. Pressing the UNLOCK button finishes the programming sequence and is require to ensure transmitter operation.
  15. Press the UNLOCK button of each key fob to finalize the programming and confirm system operation.
  16. Clear any DTC's and remove the scan tool.
