Navigation System - Poor or Inoperative TV Reception

Navigation System - Poor or Inoperative TV Reception

DEFINITION: When using the navigation radio TV function, the TV reception - TV picture and/or TV sound - is poor or inoperative.
1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle

  1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF. The Cadillac emblem screen appears on the navigation radio.
  2. Leave the vehicle in PARK.
  3. Press the MAIN button on the radio. The main menu appears on the display.
  4. Press the TV button on the radio main menu screen.
  5. Select a TV station. The TV should be clear on the radio display.
Does the system operate normally?
Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the coaxial cable leading to each TV antenna within the rear window glass.
  2. Test each TV antenna and coaxial cable for an open, short to ground, or a short to voltage. Make sure the ignition and the rear defog/defrost is turned ON with the engine OFF when testing for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 9  Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the TV Antenna Module.
  2. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  3. Test each of the following circuits for an open, short to ground, or a short to voltage.
    • The video red signal circuits
    • The video green signal circuits
    • The video blue signal circuits
    • The video synchronization signal circuits
    • The audio left circuit
    • The audio right circuit
    • The audio common circuit
Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 9  Go to Step 5 
5 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the TV antenna module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 9  Go to Step 6 
6 Replace the TV antenna module. Refer to Control Module References .
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 9  Go to Step 7 
7 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the navigation radio. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 9  Go to Step 8 
8 Replace the navigation radio. Refer to Control Module References .
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 9  -

  1. Make sure all connections are tight.
  2. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  3. Select the TV option on the navigation radio.
  4. Select a local station.
Is the picture strong?
System OK Go to Step 3
