Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Cadillac XLR. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Disconnect the VICS harness connector. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Test for less than 1ohm of resistance between the ground circuit terminal 5 and ground.
- If greater than 1 ohm, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 4 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Disconnect the radio harness connector. Verify that all circuits between the VICS and the radio are not open, shorted to ground or shorted to power.
- If a circuit fault is found, repair the suspect circuit.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the VICS.
