Circuit/System Testing: Notes
Rear Vision System Always On
- Ignition ON, observe the backup lamps. The backup lamps should be off.
- If the lamps are illuminated test the signal circuit for a short to power. Refer to Backup Lamps Always On
to diagnose the backup lamp circuit.
- If the above condition is found, make the appropriate repair.
- Replace the rear view camera image display module.
No Video - Radio Displays "Service Rear Vision Camera System"
- Ignition ON, test the ignition 1 voltage circuit and ground circuit to the rear view camera image display module for a short to ground, a high resistance, or an open. Verify that a short to ground, a high resistance, or an open does not exist.
- If any of the above conditions are found, make the appropriate repair
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rear view camera.
- Ignition ON, with the scan tool enable the backup lamps. Test for 6-volt power source at the rear view camera harness connector pins 1 (+6V) and 2 (GND).
- If the 6-volt power supply circuit does not test normal, test for 6 volts at the rear view camera image display module.
- If the 6-volt power supply source tests normal at the rear view camera image display module, then repair the harness.
- If the 6-volt power supply source does not test normal, replace the rear view camera image display module.
- If the 6-volt power supply circuit tests normal, then test the video signal circuits for short to power, ground or an open/high resistance.
- If the video circuits test normal, replace the rear view camera.
- If after replacing the rear view camera and the system does not function properly, then replace the rear view camera image display module.
