Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 GMC Sierra, 2008 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2008 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connectors at the center high mounted stop lamp.
- Test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit terminals B and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Connect a test lamp between the stop lamp control circuit terminals A and ground circuit terminals B.
- Ignition ON, press and release the brake pedal. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the center high mounted stop lamp.
