Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2008 GMC Yukon XL, 2008 GMC Yukon, 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2008 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT:
When removing connectors inspect for damage or corrosion. Damage or corrosion in the following requires repair or replacement of the affected.
- PPS module
- PPS module wiring harness
- The IPC module
- The IPC module wiring harness
- SDM
- SDM wiring harness
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the inflatable restraint passenger air bag On/Off indicator.
- Ignition OFF, test for less then 1 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If greater then the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 4 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the ignition circuit fuse is open, test or replace the inflatable restraint passenger air bag On/Off indicator.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 3 and the ignition circuit terminal 4. With the passenger seat unoccupied, then occupied the test lamp should switch states within 5 seconds.
- If the test lamp is always on, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If all circuits test normal replace the IPC.
- If the test lamp is always off, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If all circuits test normal replace the IPC.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 1 and the ignition circuit terminal 4.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the inflatable restraint passenger air bag on/off indicator.
