Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 GMC Sierra, 2009 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2009 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2009 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the stop lamp switch.
- Ignition ON, test for B+ between the B+ circuit terminal B and ground.
- If less than the specified value, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Verify the BPP Circuit Signal data parameter displays released.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Connect a 3A fused jumper between the B+ circuit terminal B and the signal circuit terminal A. Verify the BPP Circuit Signal data parameter displays applied.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the stop lamp switch.
