Driver or Passenger Seat Side Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement

WARNING: Following the deployment of a side impact air bag, inspect the following parts for damage. Replace these parts if necessary: The seat cushion frame The seat recliner, if equipped The seat adjuster The seat back frame Failure to do so may cause future personal injury. WARNING: Do not repair or replace the seat stitching or seams in the seat back trim cover with an internal mounted seat side airbag module. Replace the complete seat back trim cover from the OEM. Non-OEM seat stitching may cause improper airbag deployment which could result in personal injury. Preliminary Procedure Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling . Remove the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket (without HP2) , Front Seat Replacement - Bucket (with HP2) . Remove the front seat back cushion cover and pad. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement (with HP2) , Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement (without HP2) .
1	Inflatable Restraint Front Seat Side Module Procedure Remove the seat side inflatable restraint module nuts. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement (with HP2) , Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement (without HP2) Remove the airbag module from the top of the seat back trim cover chute. Install the airbag module through the top of the seat back trim cover chute. Once the airbag module is in the chute, align the airbag module studs through the chute holes. Be sure not to twist the chute when installing the airbag to the seat back cushion frame. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping (Europe) , Inflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping (Except Europe) .

Remove the front seat back cushion cover and pad. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement (with HP2) , Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement (without HP2) .

Inflatable Restraint Front Seat Side Module

Procedure

Remove the seat side inflatable restraint module nuts. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement (with HP2) , Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement (without HP2)
Remove the airbag module from the top of the seat back trim cover chute.
Install the airbag module through the top of the seat back trim cover chute. Once the airbag module is in the chute, align the airbag module studs through the chute holes. Be sure not to twist the chute when installing the airbag to the seat back cushion frame.
Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping (Europe) , Inflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping (Except Europe) .
