Diagnostic Procedures

- Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition must off or in LOCK position. All electrical loads must be off, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. Disconnect battery cables.
- Drain fuel tank.
- Remove fuel tank.
- Cap fuel feed tube and fuel return tube on fuel sender.
- Connect a piece of hose to the filler tube nipple and plug the opposite end.
- Submerge fuel tank in water or apply a soapy solution to the outside of tank.
- Apply 5 psi (35 kPa) of air pressure to the vent hose of the fuel tank. A leak will show up as bubbles.
