Circuit/System Testing

  1. Center the balance and fade adjustment on the radio.
    • If adjustment of the fade and balance eliminates the concern, review the operation of the radio with the customer.
  2. Ignition OFF, disconnect the amplifier harness connector containing the suspect low level audio circuits.
  3. Ignition ON, operate the radio and increase the radio volume.
  4. At the suspect amplifier harness connector, verify AC voltage is present between the suspect low level audio signal (+) and suspect low level audio signal (-) circuits.
    • If AC voltage is not present, repair open circuit or replace the radio.
  5. Reconnect the amplifier harness connector.
  6. Disconnect the suspect speaker harness connector.
  7. Verify AC voltage is present between the suspect speaker output (+) and speaker output (-) circuits.
    • If AC voltage is not present, repair open speaker output circuit or replace the suspect speaker.
  8. If all circuits test normal, replace the amplifier.
