Installation Procedure

  1. Install the wire harness to the steering wheel control switch assembly.

  3. Align the steering control switch assembly engagement tabs to the steering wheel.

    Push in on the steering wheel control switch assembly in order to secure the control switch assembly to the steering wheel.

    NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  5. Install the steering wheel control harness retainer and screw.

    Tighten:  Tighten the screw to 2.3 N.m (20 lb in).

  6. Install the steering wheel control switch assembly screws.

    Tighten:  Tighten the screws to 2.3 N.m (20 lb in).

  8. Connect the steering wheel control electrical connector.
  9. Secure the connector to the retaining clip.
  10. Install the steering wheel inflatable restraint module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
  11. Enable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
