Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac CTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the VES actuator.
- Connect a test lamp between the low effort control circuit terminal A and ground.
- Cycle the ignition ON and verify the test lamp turns ON then OFF.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminals A and B.
- Cycle the ignition ON and verify the test lamp turns ON then OFF.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the EBCM.
- Test for infinite resistance between the control circuit terminal 29 and ground.
- If not the specified value, test the control circuit for a short to ground.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the VES actuator.
