Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac XLR. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the traffic information reciever.
- Ignition OFF, test for less than 5 ohms between the traffic information reciever ground circuit terminal 5 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for and open/high resistance.
- Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the accessory voltage circuit terminal 4 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the voltage circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- Connect the harness connector at the traffic information reciever.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X3 harness connector at the radio.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the request signal circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the traffic information reciever.
- Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the high signal circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the traffic information reciever.
- Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the low signal circuit terminal 6 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the traffic information reciever.
- Verify that a test lamp illuminates between B+ and the drain wire circuit terminal 5 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the drain wire circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the traffic information reciever.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the radio.
