Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rear upper beam sensor and the harness connector at the pedestrian impact detection module.
  2. Test for infinite resistance between the sensor signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If less than infinite resistance, test the circuit for a short to ground.
  3. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the sensor signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage.
  4. Test for less than 1 volt between the sensor low reference circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage.
  5. Test for less than 1 ohm between the sensor low reference circuit terminal 2 and the pedestrian impact detection module terminal 31.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rear upper beam sensor.
  6. Test for less than 1 ohm between the sensor signal circuit terminal 1 and the pedestrian impact detection module terminal 30.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rear upper beam sensor.
  7. If all circuits test normal, replace the rear upper beam sensor.
  8. With a scan tool, clear DTCs.
  9. Verify DTC B009D is not set.
    • If DTC is set, replace the pedestrian impact detection module.
