Circuit/System Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2011 GMC Yukon, 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2011 Cadillac Escalade. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The drive motor generator power inverter control module contains several microprocessors. The hybrid powertrain control module is part of the drive motor generator power inverter control module, and is not serviced separately. This diagnostic applies to internal microprocessor integrity conditions within the hybrid powertrain control module. The hybrid powertrain control module and each motor control module utilize a programmable logic device to perform certain input and output functions. At ignition ON, the programmable logic device expects to communicate with the hybrid powertrain control module and both motor control modules. The programmable logic device will communicate to motor control module 1 over an internal communication circuit when it has established communications with the hybrid powertrain control module. Motor control module 1 will communicate to the engine control module (ECM) over the serial data circuit if the programmable logic device has not established communication with the hybrid powertrain control module.
