Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 GMC Sierra, 2004 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2004 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the SGCM coolant pump inlet hose (4) to the SGCM coolant pump (2).
  2. Position the SGCM coolant pump inlet hose clamp (1) to the SGCM coolant pump (2).

  4. Position the SGCM coolant pump outlet hose clamp (2) to the SGCM coolant pump (1).
  5. Install the SGCM coolant pump outlet hose (3) to the SGCM coolant pump (1).

  7. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the SGCM coolant pump (2).

  9. Position the SGCM coolant pump (1) to the radiator core support (3).
  10. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  11. Install the bolts (2) to the SGCM coolant pump (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  13. Install the push pin to the right side radiator air baffle.
  14. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 5.3L.
  15. NOTE: The procedure below must be followed. Improper coolant level could result in a low or high coolant level condition, causing starter/generator control module damage.
  16. Fill the SGCM cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System - Starter/Generator Control Module .
