Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition ON.
  2. Verify DTC C450 is not set.
    • If DTC C450 is not set
  3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X135 harness connector at the M72 Variable Power Steering Solenoid Valve.
  4. Test for 1.6-3.1 Ω between control terminal A and control terminal B of the harness connector at the M72 Variable Power Steering Solenoid Valve.
    • If less than 1.6 Ω

Replace the M72 variable power steering solenoid valve and replace the K43 Power Steering Control Module.

    • If greater than 3.1 Ω

Replace the M72 Variable Power Steering Solenoid Valve.

    • If between 1.6-3.1 Ω
  5. Test for infinite resistance between each terminal and the M72 Variable Power Steering Solenoid Valve housing case.
    • If less than infinite resistance

Replace the M72 Variable Power Steering Solenoid Valve and replace the K43 Power Steering Control Module.

    • If infinite resistance
  6. Disconnect the harness connector at the K43 Power Steering Control Module.
  7. Test for infinite resistance between the circuit terminals listed below and ground.
    • Terminal 2 at the K43 Power Steering Control Module
    • Terminal 3 at the K43 Power Steering Control Module
    • If less than infinite resistance

Repair the short to ground on the circuit and replace the K43 Power Steering Control Module.

    • If infinite resistance
  8. Test for infinite resistance between the circuit terminals listed below.
    • Terminal 2 at the K43 Power Steering Control Module
    • Terminal 3 at the K43 Power Steering Control Module
    • If less than infinite resistance

Repair the short between the circuit and replace the K43 Power Steering Control Module.

    • If infinite resistance
  9. Ignition ON.
  10. Test for less than 1 V between the circuit terminals listed below and ground.
    • Terminal 2 at the K43 Power Steering Control Module
    • Terminal 3 at the K43 Power Steering Control Module
    • If greater than the specified range

Repair the short to voltage on the circuit and replace the K43 Power Steering Control Module.

    • If within the specified range
  11. Program the K43 Power Steering Control Module. Refer to Power Steering Control Module Programming and Setup (NXC) .
  12. Verify the DTC is not set.
    • If the DTC is set

Replace the K43 Power Steering Control Module.

    • If the DTC is not set
  13. All OK.
