Parking Assist Description and Operation: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 Cadillac CTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The parking assist system is designed to identify and notify the driver of an object in the vehicle's path when moving forward or reversing at speeds of less than 8 km/h (5 MPH). The distance and location of the object is determined by eight object sensors: four located in the rear bumper and four located in the front bumper. The parking assist system will notify the driver using an audible beep signal through the radio.

The automatic parking assist feature uses two additional sensors located on the front fascia, just ahead of the wheel opening. These sensors face toward the side of the vehicle and are used to aid the driver in positioning the vehicle in a parallel parking maneuver.
