Circuit/System Testing
All Controls Malfunction
- Vehicle OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S70R Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Right, Vehicle in Service Mode.
- Test for 2-10 V between the serial data circuit terminal 5 and ground.
- If less than 2 V
- Vehicle OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the P16 Instrument Cluster.
- Test for infinite resistance between the serial data circuit and ground.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the serial data circuit end to end.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster.
- If greater than 10 V
- Vehicle OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the P16 Instrument Cluster, Vehicle in Service Mode.
- Test for less than 1 V between the serial data circuit and ground.
- If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster.
- If between 2-10 V
- Test or replace S70R Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Right
Left Controls Malfunction
- Vehicle OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left, Vehicle in Service Mode.
- Test for less than 1 volt between the following signal circuits and ground
- Voice - Terminal 1
- Mute - Terminal 3
- If 1 volt or greater
Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 volt
- Vehicle OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S70R Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Right.
- Test for infinite resistance between the following signal circuit terminals and ground.
- Voice - Terminal 1
- Mute - Terminal 3
- If less than infinite resistance
Repair the short to ground on the circuit
- If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 Ω on the following signal circuit terminals
- S70R Steering Wheel Control Switch - Right signal circuit terminal 1 and S70L Steering Wheel Control Switch - Left signal circuit terminal 1
- S70R Steering Wheel Control Switch - Right signal circuit terminal 3 and S70L Steering Wheel Control Switch - Left signal circuit terminal 3
- If 2 Ω or greater
Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω
- Replace the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left.
