Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the X3 harness connector at the K39 Liftgate Control Module. It may take up to 2 minutes for all vehicle systems to power down.
  2. Test for less than 20 Ω between terminal 11 at the K39 Liftgate Control Module and ground.
    • If 20 Ω or greater 
    • Replace the K39 Liftgate Control Module
    • If less than 20 Ω 
  3. Ignition ON
  4. Verify a test lamp illuminates between terminal 8 at the K39 Liftgate Control Module and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate 

      Replace the K39 Liftgate Control Module

    • If the test lamp illuminates 
  5. Test for greater than 11 V between terminal 9 at the K39 Liftgate Control Module and ground.
    • If 11 V or less 

      Replace the K39 Liftgate Control Module

    • If greater than 11 V 
  6. Test for greater than 11 V between terminal 10 at the K39 Liftgate Control Module and ground.
    • If 11 V or less 

      Replace the K39 Liftgate Control Module

    • If greater than 11 V 

      Replace the M17 Liftgate Motor Assembly.
