Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition ON.
  2. Test for greater than 12 V between the battery positive terminal and negative terminal.
    • If greater than 12 V 
  3. Verify no DTCs set.
    • If no DTCs are set 
  4. Verify the scan tool Autostop Disable Reason - Stop/Start Select Switch parameter changes between Yes and No when pressing and releasing the Autostop switch.
    • If the parameter does not change 

      Refer to Circuit/System Testing - Autostop Switch Circuit Malfunction

    • If the parameter changes 
  5. Verify the Autostop switch indicator turns ON and OFF when pressing and releasing the switch
    • If the Autostop switch indicator does not turn ON and OFF 

      Refer to Circuit/System Testing - Autostop Switch Indicator Circuit Malfunction

    • If the Autostop switch indicator turns ON and OFF 
  6. Verify the autostop and autostart functions are functioning properly while operating the vehicle under the conditions for entering a start/stop event.
    • If the vehicle does not autostop or autostart 

      Observe the scan tool Autostop Disable Reason, Autostop Inhibit, Autostart Inhibit, and Autostart Entry parameters while operating the vehicle under the conditions for entering a start/stop event. These parameters will identify the specific cause for the autostop or autostart disable. Refer to the appropriate subsection and symptom when the cause is identified using the scan tool parameters.

    • If the vehicle autostops and autostarts 
  7. Verify the infotainment system remains active during a start/stop event.
    • If the infotainment system turns off or restarts during a start/stop event. 

      Refer to Circuit/System Testing - Stop/Start Capacitor Control Module Malfunction.

    • If the infotainment system remains active during a start/stop event 
  8. All OK.
