Installation Procedure

  1. Position the generator (5) to the engine.
    2. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  2. Install the generator mounting stud (4) to the cylinder head and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
  3. Loosely install the generator fasteners (3).
  4. Loosely install the idler pulley (2) and idler pulley fastener.
  5. Tighten the idler pulley fastener (1) to 58 N.m (43 lb ft).
  6. Tighten the generator mounting fasteners (3) to 58 N.m (43 lb ft).

  7. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  8. Connect the engine harness electrical connector (1) to the generator.
  9. Install the positive battery cable terminal (3) to the generator.
  10. Install the positive battery cable fastener (2) to the generator and tighten to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
  11. Install the positive battery cable protective cap to the generator terminal.
  12. Install the front compartment front sight shield. Refer to Front Compartment Front Sight Shield Replacement .
  13. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
