Media Disc Player
The Media Disc Player is a separate component from the radio. The Media Disc Player receives power, ground and serial data from the vehicle harness.
The Media Disc Player is responsible for the majority of the processing done by the Rear Seat Infotainment system. It plays optical media, decodes digital media, processes remote inputs, and handles serial communication on both the MOST bus and GM LAN.
The Media Disc Player connects to the MOST bus in order to send and receive audio as well as send and receive commands.
The Media Disc Player uses GM LAN for diagnostics, calibration, and for monitoring normal vehicle operation (ie seat massage settings, etc).
The Media Disc Player connects to external video displays using LVDS cables. In addition to carrying video content these cables also carry audio content, which is transmitted to the rear headphones using infrared transmitters in the rear displays and relay received remote control commands from the rear displays to the Media Disc Player.
The Media Disc Player provides a discreet circuit to control the power state of the rear displays.
