Diagnostic Aids
The diagnostic consists of a passive efficiency test and active efficiency test. The passive test runs first, which takes a minimum of 80 minutes to mature. If the passive test fails, the active test is then run, which is intrusive. The DTC sets upon failure of the active test. The scan tool control function allows the active test to be run directly, eliminating the need to wait for the failure of the passive test.
The efficiency value is calculated by dividing the battery charger's output power by input power. A value less than 100% indicates power loss. A value more than 100% indicates an overcurrent condition and is less likely to occur.
