Window Indexing

The driver and passenger windows will lower approximately 1/2" before the appropriate door is open to prevent damage to the door window seal.

For vehicles that may be exposed to icy conditions, the body control module will detect when the window will not index due to ice accumulation, when this occurs, the body control module will command the affected window to perform the index function three more times to free the window to allow normal indexing functions.

Each window motor monitors the voltage level in their respective door handle switch signal circuits, when the exterior door handle is pulled, contacts within the exterior door handle switch will close providing a ground path for the signal circuit. The appropriate window motor will detect the voltage drop and will lower the window approximately 1/2 inch.

Each door latch assembly has a switch so that when the interior or exterior door handle is pulled, the contacts within the door latch switch will close providing a ground path for the door handle switch signal circuit. The voltage within the signal circuit will drop and the window motor will again lower the window approximately 1/2 inch.

The body control module will send a serial data message to the window motor when the door has been completely closed so that the window motor can command the window to move to the fully up position.
