Intermediate Steering Shaft Boot Replacement

Preliminary Procedures Open the hood. Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Replacement (Left Side) , or Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Replacement (Right Side)
1	Mid Intermediate Steering Shaft Bolt CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution . Procedure Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the component. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers Tighten 36 N.m (27 lb ft)
2	Intermediate Steering Shaft Boot Procedure To remove the intermediate steering shaft inner boot, lift the lip of the boot and use a suitable tool to release the plastic clips holding the boot in place. Separate the upper intermediate steering shaft from the mid intermediate steering shaft. Slide the intermediate steering shaft boot down and off of the upper intermediate steering shaft. When installing the intermediate steering shaft boot, ensure the boot is aligned under the hood by using the arrow on the boot as a guide.

Tighten

Intermediate Steering Shaft Boot

Procedure

To remove the intermediate steering shaft inner boot, lift the lip of the boot and use a suitable tool to release the plastic clips holding the boot in place.
Separate the upper intermediate steering shaft from the mid intermediate steering shaft.
Slide the intermediate steering shaft boot down and off of the upper intermediate steering shaft.
