Installation Procedure

NOTE:- The upper intermediate steering shaft will not disengage from the steering column entirely until the steering column is removed from the vehicle. When installing the steering column, align the upper intermediate steering shaft with the steering column shaft while positioning the steering column in the vehicle.
- Ensure the match marks on the upper intermediate steering shaft and steering column are aligned.
Steering Column (2) - Install
- Install the steering column nuts (1) and tighten in the sequence shown to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
- Connect the steering column electrical connectors.
Fully connect the upper intermediate steering shaft (2) to the steering column.
- Before continuing, ensure the bearings in the intermediate steering shaft boots are positioned correctly and moving freely.
- Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft Bolt (1) - Install
- Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the component. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft Bolt (1) - Tighten to 36 N.m (27 lb ft)
- Release the steering wheel from the method that was used to minimize movement.
Driver Knee Bolster Reinforcement (2) - Install - Driver Knee Bolster Reinforcement Replacement
Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch (1) - Install - Windshield Wiper and Windshield Washer Switch Replacement
Turn Signal Switch (1) - Install - Turn Signal Switch Replacement
Steering Column Lower Trim Cover (2) - Install - Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Replacement
Steering Column Upper Trim Cover (2) - Install - Steering Column Upper Trim Cover Replacement
- Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
- {If equipped} {ULS} - Program the steering column lock control module. Control Module References
- Center the steering angle sensor. Steering Wheel Angle Sensor Centering
