Video Processing Control Module Calibration: Calibration

NOTE:

Diagnostic Aids MUST be followed prior to Calibration

This is the calibration process for the Surround Vision Camera system. When the Video Processing Control Module is replaced, calibration must be performed. If the following occurs, calibration is recommended but not required:

To calibrate the cameras, operate the vehicle in the following conditions until the calibration is complete:

    NOTE:
    • Proper Camera Calibration Mat location is critical for the camera calibration success. An improper mat location will cause the displayed image to be heavily distorted. For correct mat location, refer to the alignment instructions on the EL-51372 box. For parallel alignment, place the mat edge parallel to vehicle 50 cm from the outside edge of tire. For Fore/Aft alignment, place the mat so the distance from the closest edge of the center square, to the vehicle's bumper, is 70 cm.
    • Camera Calibration Mat must be as flat as possible. Wrinkles in the mat will cause a distorted camera image.
    • At any point where the Calibration is stuck and radio display does not show any camera images, clicking Cancel from the scan tool learn screen will resolve the issue and will return to previous learn position
    • A displayed exclamation (!) does not necessarily mean there is an error. Proceed by clicking Capture. If an error is present, an error code will then be displayed after clicking Capture.
    • If at any point in the calibration procedure the alignment process is interrupted, clicking Retry from the scan tool learn screen will cancel the current learn process and can be procedure can be restarted
    • DO NOT Click Finalize until all mat positions for the selected learn procedure have been captured.
  1. Using the scan tool, select the desired single camera to calibrate, or all cameras if necessary.
  2. NOTE:

Initiate  should only be clicked once per calibration procedure.

  3. Click Initiate on the scan tool learn screen. This starts the calibration procedure.
  4. The radio display will show the desired EL-51372 camera calibration mat position.
  5. NOTE:

Mat must be flat on the floor

  6. Place the EL-51372 camera mat in the position shown on the display. Use the EL-51372 box as a ruler to align the mat with the vehicle correctly.
  7. NOTE:

In an event of an error, click the Retry button to reset the image and try a new capture. DO NOT click Finalize until all mat positions for the selected learn procedure have been captured.

  8. Once the mat is correctly positioned, Click Capture  on the scan tool learn screen. This captures the image.
    • If a red "X" is diplayed, correct the EL-51372 camera mat position and retry.
    • Go to next step: If a green checkmark is displayed, the image was accepted.
  9. Leave the EL-51372 camera mat in that position until the camera display prompts for it to be moved to the next position, or if calibration is complete.
  10. NOTE:

Once all the required mat position images have been captured successfully, a green checkmark is displayed over the images.

  11. Once the last camera image has been captured, click Finalize on the scan tool learn screen. This completes the calibration procedure.
