Installation Procedure

  1. Install the battery positive and negative cable into the vehicle and place into position.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Install the battery positive cable terminal (1) to the B + generator stud (4) and tighten the fastener (2) to 15 N.m (11 lb ft)

  3. Install the protective cap (3).

    Connect the engine wiring harness connector (1) to the battery positive and negative cable connector (2).

    Connect the battery positive cable terminal (1) to the starter solenoid stud and tighten the fastener (2) to 9 N.m (80 lb in)

  6. Connect the battery positive cable connector (3) to the starter solenoid.
  7. Position the starter (4) into position on the bell housing.

    Install the starter mounting fasteners (1) and tighten to 58 N.m (43 lb ft)

    Install the battery positive cable conduit bracket (3) to the starter solenoid (2) and tighten the fastener (1) to 9 N.m (80 lb in)

    Install the starter heat shield into position on the starter (2) with the retaining clip (1).

    Install the starter heat shield fastener (1) and tighten to 4.7 N.m (42 lb in)

    Install the battery negative cable terminal (1) to the engine block and tighten the fastener (2) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft)

  13. Install the battery positive and negative cable bracket to the transmission stud and tighten the fastener (4) to 9 N.m (80 lb in)

    Radiator Outlet Hose (2) @ Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Pipe - Install - Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LFX) , or Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LF3)

    Install the battery positive and negative cable bracket (2) to the transmission stud and tighten the fastener (1) to 9 N.m (80 lb in)

    Battery Negative Cable (2) - Install

  17. Battery Negative Cable Fastener (1) - Install and tighten9 N.m (80 lb in)

    Battery Tray (3) - Install - Battery Tray Replacement

    Three-Way Catalytic Converter (3) - Install - Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Front-LFX) , or Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Rear-LFX) , or Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Front LF3) , or Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Rear LF3)

    Install the front turbocharger heat shield (3). Turbocharger Heat Shield Replacement (Front) , or Turbocharger Heat Shield Replacement (Rear)

    Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Vacuum Tank (3) - Install - Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Vacuum Tank Replacement (LF3)

    Intake Manifold Cover (3) - Install - Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (LFX) , or Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (LF3)

  23. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
