Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

  1. Ensure Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) bracket retaining screws are tight. Ensure there is no play in TPS arm and primary throttle valve arm. Connect ohmmeter to Green and Black leads of TPS.
    CAUTION: During TPS checking procedure, test connections should be connected for minimum time period.
  2. Position throttle lever in about 1/3 open position. Ohmmeter should show no continuity. Gradually close throttle lever. Continuity should exist when primary valve reaches prescribed clearance between valve and bore.
  3. Clearance must be within specification. Refer to the TPS CLEARANCE SPECIFICATIONS  table. Adjust clearance by loosening TPS screws. Recheck continuity and clearance after adjustment.
