Code A048 - Right Front Motor Spins Freely: Notes

This test is designed to detect stripped gear or nut assembly during initialization. Code A048 will disable ABS function and turn ABS warning light on.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. This step checks to see if open right front motor code is set.
  2. This step verifies motor was applied by monitoring feedback current.
  3. This step verifies motor can release spring tension.
  4. This step verifies motor can apply spring tension.
  5. This step checks for stripped gear (3 small gears) on motor pack.
  6. This step checks for stripped gear (3 large gears) on hydraulic modulator.
  7. This step determines if hydraulic modulator or motor pack has an internal malfunction.
  8. This step checks for defective EBCM.
