Diagnostic System Check: Notes

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart. To identify circuits and terminals referenced in text and flowcharts, see WIRING DIAGRAM  .

  1. Indicates if EBCM is transmitting data.
  2. Checks for serial data line malfunction.
  3. Checks for proper scan tool connection to DLC.
  4. Checks for open fuse.
  5. Checks EBTCM ground resistance. Should be less than 2 ohms.
  6. Checks for current DTCs.
  7. Checks for proper ABS warning light operation.
  8. Checks for history DTCs.

  9. Checks for possible short to ground in battery feed circuit.
  10. Checks for possible short to ground in EBCM.
  11. Ensures short to ground is not due to physical damage of circuit.

  12. Checks for open in switched power circuit between EBCM and PCM.
  13. Checks for high resistance in switched ignition circuit.
  14. Ensures malfunction is not due to poor terminal contact.
