Remote Keyless Entry Systems: Programming: Transmitter: Synchronization
The remote control door lock receiver system has a security procedure that may require the transmitter to be resynchronized. If the transmitter does not send the same signal twice, the receiver will not respond to a signal the transmitter has sent previously. This prevents the signal from being recorded to and played back from the transmitter.
Resynchronization does not send the mathematical formula to the receiver. Resynchronization verifies the previously programmed mathematical formula in the transmitter. Resynchronization only works if the transmitter is already programmed.
Resynchronization may be necessary for the following conditions:
- The transmitter battery is very weak.
- The transmitter battery is changed.
- The vehicle battery is very weak.
- The vehicle battery is disconnected.
- The transmitter is pressed greater than 256 times outside the range of the receiver.
Use the following procedure to resynchronize the transmitter with the receiver:
- Depress the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter simultaneously for 7 seconds.
- The receiver will acknowledge resynchronization in one of the following methods:
- If all of the doors are locked, the receiver will lock and unlock all of the doors except the driver's door.
- If all of the doors are unlocked, the receiver will lock all of the doors.
