Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Attempt to establish communications with Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). If scan tool communicates with IPC, go to step 3 . If scan tool does not communicate with IPC, go to next step.
- Check IPC power and ground circuits for opens or shorts. See appropriate POWER DISTRIBUTION or GROUND DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. Repair as necessary and attempt to establish communications with Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). If scan tool communicates with IPC, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with IPC, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH IPC under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Use scan tool to retrieve DTCs. If DTCs are present, go to ANTI-THEFT DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) DEFINITIONS table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTCs are not present, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch on. Observe indicators on IPC. If all indicators operate properly, system is operating properly at this time. If indicators do not operate properly, go to next step.
