System Check

  1. Using scan tool, check for PASS-Key(R) III DTCs. See PASS-Key(R) III SYSTEM  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Repair as necessary. Attempt to communicate with PCM. If scan tool will not communicate with PCM, see appropriate DATA LINK CONNECTORS article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. If scan tool will communicate with PCM, go to next step.
  2. Check for open in Purple wire between splice S236 and PASS-Key(R) III module connector terminal "B". Check PCM (10-amp) fuse and PASS-KEY(R) (10-amp) fuse in fuse block. Repair as necessary.
  3. Disconnect PASS-Key(R) III module connector.
  4. Turn ignition on. Using a test light connected to ground, probe PASS-Key(R) III module connector terminal "E" (Pink wire). If test light comes on go to next step. If test light does not come on, repair open or poor connection in Pink wire.
  5. Connect test light to PASS-Key(R) III module connector terminal "C" (Black wire). Probe PASS-Key(R) III module connector terminal "E" (Pink wire). If test light comes on go to next step. If test light does not come on, repair open or poor connection in Black wire.
  6. Check PASS-Key(R) III module connector terminals. Repair any poor connections. If no problem is found, replace PASS-Key(R) III module.
