Description & Operation

WARNING: Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting ANY repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.

Remote keyless entry system is used to lock and unlock vehicle doors and release rear doors or liftgate. Transmitter must be within 33 feet (10 meters) of vehicle for receiver to detect coded signal. When LOCK button is depressed once transmitter, and Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) receives a signal with a valid vehicle access code, lock function sequence is performed. If LOCK button is pressed again within 5 seconds, horn will chirp. When UNLOCK button is pressed once on transmitter, signal is received by RCDLR and unlocks driver's door only, flashes park lights and turns on interior lights. When UNLOCK button is pressed a second time, within 1-5 seconds of the first, remaining doors will unlock.

To lock doors, press LOCK button to lock all doors at once. When button marked REAR 2X is pressed twice within 5 seconds, rear hatch or cargo doors unlock, park lights flash and interior lights come on. When button with a horn symbol (if equipped) is pressed, horn sounds and head lights and park lights flash for up to 30 seconds. This can be turned off by pressing button with horn symbol again or starting engine.
