Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 GMC Sierra and 1999 Chevrolet Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove left instrument panel trim panel. Apply parking brake. Shift transmission to first gear (automatic transmission only). Tilt steering wheel to full down position. Pull rearward gently on instrument panel bezel. Set instrument panel bezel aside.
  2. Remove knee bolster screws. Unsnap knee bolster and set aside. Disconnect Brown BCM connector first. Remove remaining BCM connectors. Remove BCM from sliding bracket.
  3. Slide BCM into bracket. Reconnect all connectors EXCEPT Brown BCM connector. Reconnect Brown BCM connector last. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. To reprogram BCM, see PROGRAMMING  .
