Service Engine Soon Lamp Illuminates Intermittently, PCM Code P1515 Set (Reprogram PCM)
Models:
2000 Chevrolet Camaro
2000 Pontiac Firebird
with 3.8L Engine (VIN K - RPO L36)
Condition
Some customers may comment on the Service Engine Soon Lamp illuminating intermittently. Upon investigation, the dealer will find a PCM code P1515. P1515 will set if there is a difference between actual throttle blade angle and PCM commanded throttle blade angle.
Cause
The PCM calibration under certain operating conditions may induce this condition.
Correction
Dealers should verify the operation of the throttle body and complete strategic based diagnostics for PCM code P1515 as indicated in the appropriate Service Information Manual. If strategic based diagnostics lead to "No trouble found", then reprogramming the PCM using TIS 2000 disk # 8 of the 2000 model year, should correct the concern.
