Cruise Control Servo
Cruise control servo allows system to maintain desired vehicle speed. Functions of cruise control are received and acted upon by cruise control module which is integrated into cruise control servo.
Cruise control servo monitors vehicle speed and receives commands from cruise control functional switches. Responding to command from cruise control functional switches, cruise control servo turns a worm gear. Turning the worm gear moves the cruise control servo cable which is attached to the accelerator pedal. Altering accelerator pedal position in turn varies throttle angle at throttle body. In this manner, desired cruise speed is maintained. Cruise control servo and worm gear contact mechanically only when a magnetic clutch, located between cruise control servo and worm gear, is energized. Cruise control servo contains a low speed limit which will prevent system engagement when vehicle speed is less than about 25 MPH.
