Test C: Right Front Window Inoperative

  1. If description and operation have been reviewed, go to next step. If description and operation have not been reviewed, review description and operation. See DESCRIPTION & OPERATION  .
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Operate right front power window switch to UP and DOWN positions. If power window does not operate, go to next step. If power window operates, diagnose intermittent condition. See INTERMITTENTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - PRIZM article.
  3. Disconnect right front power window switch 5-pin harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and right front power window harness connector terminal No. 4 (Black wire). See Fig 1 . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step  15 .
  4. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect power window master switch 14-pin harness connector. Measure resistance in Blue/White wire between power window master switch terminal No. 6 and right front power window switch harness connector terminal No. 2. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to step  14 .
  5. Measure resistance in Green/Red wire between power window master switch terminal No. 14 and right front power window switch harness connector terminal No. 5. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to step  13 .
  6. Reconnect power window master switch. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Press and hold power window master switch (right side front) to DOWN position. Measure voltage between ground and right front power window harness connector terminal No. 2 (Blue/White wire). Press and hold power window master switch (right side front) to UP position. Measure voltage between ground and right front power window switch harness connector terminal No. 5 (Green/Red wire). See Fig 1 . Battery voltage should exist during both tests. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, go to step  10 .
  7. Reconnect right front power window switch harness connector. Press and hold power window master switch (right side front) to DOWN position. Measure voltage between ground and right front power window switch harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 1 (Green wire). See Fig 1 . Press and hold power window master switch (right side front) to UP position. Measure voltage between ground and right front power window switch harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 3 (Yellow wire). Battery voltage should exist during both tests. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, go to step  9 .
  8. Press and hold right front power window switch to DOWN position. Measure voltage between ground and right front power window motor harness connector terminal No. 1 (Green wire). Press and hold right front power window switch to UP position. Measure voltage between ground and right front power window motor harness connector terminal No. 2 (Yellow wire). Battery voltage should exist during both tests. If voltage is as specified, go to step  11 . If voltage is not as specified, go to step  12 .
  9. Inspect right front power window switch for loose terminals or corrosion. Diagnose intermittent condition. See INTERMITTENTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - PRIZM article. If problem still exists, go to step  16 . If problem does not exist, go to step  19 .
  10. Inspect power window master switch harness connector for loose terminals or corrosion. Diagnose intermittent condition. See INTERMITTENTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - PRIZM article. If problem still exists, go to step  17 . If problem does not exist, go to step  19 .
  11. Inspect right front power window motor harness connector for loose terminals or corrosion. Diagnose intermittent condition. See INTERMITTENTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - PRIZM article. If problem still exists, go to step  18 . If problem does not exist, go to step  19 .
  12. Repair open in appropriate wire between right front power window switch and right front power window motor. After repair, go to step  19 .
  13. Repair open in Green/Red wire between left and right door switches. After repair, go to step  19 .
  14. Repair open in Blue/White wire between right and left door switches. After repair, go to step  19 .
  15. Repair open in Black wire between splice SP252 and right front power window switch. After repair, go to step  19 .
  16. Replace right front window switch. After repair, go to step  19 .
  17. Replace power window master switch. After repair, go to step  19 .
  18. Replace right front window motor. After repair, go to next step.
  19. Operate system to verify repair. If problem does not exist, system is okay. If problem still exists, go to step  3 .
