July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Installation Procedure

CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  1. Install the rear bracket to the power steering pump.
  2. Install the power steering pump rear bracket mounting nuts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nuts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  3. Install the power steering pump to the vehicle.
  4. Install the power steering pump front mounting bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  5. Reposition the accessory mounting bracket and install the mounting bolts and nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts and nut to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  6. Install the power steering pump lower and rear mounting nuts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nuts to 41 N.m (30 lb ft).

  7. Uncap the power steering hoses.

  8. Raise the vehicle.

    Important:  Route the power steering hoses in the same location in which they were removed.

  9. Install the power brake booster inlet hose (2) to the power steering pump through the wheel well.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the hose fitting to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).

  10. Install the power steering gear outlet hose through the wheel well.

  11. Install the reservoir outlet hose to the power steering pump through the wheel well.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
  13. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement .
  14. Bleed the system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
  15. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
