Installation Procedure

  1. Install the relay rod to the vehicle.
  2. Install the relay rod to the pitman arm and idler arm.

  3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the new relay rod to the idler arm retaining nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 63 N.m (47 lb ft).

  6. Install the new relay rod to the pitman arm retaining nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 63 N.m (47 lb ft).

  8. Install the inner tie rods to the relay rod.

  10. Install the inner tie rods to relay rod retaining nuts.

  12. Tighten the inner tie rods to relay rod retaining nuts using J 34028  .

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 112 N.m (83 lb ft).

  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Verify the wheel alignment. Refer to Measuring Wheel Alignment in Wheel Alignment.
